OUR PROCESS

EDXU London designing process with jewellery drawings, paint and paint brushes, jewellery samples, gemstones and packagings

INSPIRATION

We draw inspiration from a rich tapestry of art forms, global cultures, knowledge systems, and ritual symbolism, as well as the quiet beauty found in everyday life. These collected moments and observations become part of our evolving archive—little treasures that continue to spark joy and guide our creative process.

In our bespoke service, we invite clients to explore their own inspirations and personal stories. What sets our work apart is how we centre these narratives, using them as the foundation for each design.

DESIGNING

Designing a new piece or collection is both a joyful and demanding journey for Edward. He explores hundreds of variations, refining each idea to arrive at the perfect expression. His perfectionism makes the process meticulous and time-consuming, but the outcome is always worth it.

2D & 3D DRAWINGS

Trained at the renowned Central Saint Martins, Edward is a skilled creator who begins each design with hand-drawn sketches. He then develops these concepts digitally, testing countless permutations to refine every detail. Only when he or his clients are fully satisfied does he pass the design to his team of expert CAD designers to create a 1:1 scale 3D rendering. The final design undergoes a meticulous review before being sent to the workshop for production, ensuring every element is flawless.

EDXU London materials, gemstones selection and polishing process

METAL

We feel fortunate to work with precious metals every day. With over a decade in the jewellery industry, Edward has established a strong commitment to both quality and ethical sourcing when selecting materials for his designs.

Sterling Silver: We use fair-trade or recycled sterling silver, always with a minimum fineness of 925.

Rhodium Plating: Rhodium, a rare white metal, is commonly used in jewellery plating for its brilliant sheen and durability. Most of our white metal pieces are rhodium-plated to enhance lustre and protect the surface.

Vermeil: This refers to gold-plated sterling silver. We apply a thick 2.5-micron layer of gold to ensure long-lasting durability. While vermeil may tarnish over time, this doesn’t indicate the plating has worn off. Use our branded jewellery cloth to restore its shine. For care tips, please visit our Product Care page or contact us directly.

Carat (Karat) Gold: All of our made-to-order, bespoke, and Reimagine jewellery is crafted from fair-trade or recycled gold. Every piece is tested and hallmarked by the London Assay Office to guarantee quality.

Platinum: We handcraft our fine jewellery using fair-trade or recycled platinum. As with our gold pieces, each design is tested and hallmarked by the London Assay Office.

We recycle all damaged or discontinued pieces and encourage our clients to do the same. If you’d like to learn more about recycling your old jewellery, feel free to get in touch.

GEMSTONES

Gemstone Guide: While over 3,000 minerals are known globally, only around 50 are commonly used as gemstones. Their value is defined by rarity, hardness, and durability. Explore our Gemstones section to discover the history and symbolism behind the stones featured in our designs.

Our Gemstones: We collaborate with trusted suppliers around the world to source distinctive gemstones. Each stone is hand-selected by Edward for its character and uniqueness—no two are ever the same.

Diamonds: They remain the most sought-after gems in the market. To ensure quality and transparency, all diamonds above 0.35ct are certified and traceable through official gemological laboratories. We work exclusively with conflict-free, ethically sourced diamonds in accordance with the Kimberley Process.

Customisation: If you have a specific stone or cut in mind, we can source it or have it custom-cut to your requirements. We’re also happy to work with your own loose stones, offering testing and design integration. No matter how rare or specific your request, we’re confident we can help you find the perfect stone.
