OUR PROCESS

EDXU London designing process with jewellery drawings, paint and paint brushes, jewellery samples, gemstones and packagings

INSPIRATION

We always look for inspiration from cross platforms of arts, foreign cultures, knowledge, and religion that we encounter, as well as small yet beautiful details from our daily lives. Collecting and documenting these wonderful 'treasures' for our research and archive can give us joy when we look back while designing new pieces.

In our bespoke services, we encourage our clients to search for their inspiration and personal sentiments that we could use to translate into the design. What differentiates our works from other designers is prioritising these stories in our design process.

DESIGNING

Working on a new design or collection is a joyish yet challenging process for Edward. He would consistently test all the variants and possibilities to achieve the perfect result. Being a perfectionist makes this a lengthy process; however, the result will always pay off.

2D & 3D DRAWINGS

Having been trained in the famous Central St. Martins College, Edward can draw eloquently. Edward's preferred way of working was to sketch his ideas by hand and then move them onto the computer to test all possible permutations. Only when he or his clients are 100% happy with the designs would he pass the technical drawing to his team of talented CAD designers to create a 1 to 1 scale 3D rendering. The design will only be sent to the workshop to produce after a thorough final check to eliminate all possible errors.

METAL

We feel fortunate to work with precious metals on a daily basis. Having been in the jewellery industry for over a decade, Edward has established a quality and ethical standard when selecting precious metals for his designs.

Sterling Silver - We use fair-trade or recycled silver for our sterling silver jewellery, with a minimum of 925 fineness.

Rhodium Plating - Rhodium is a durable and precious white metal, and it is used mainly in jewellery plating. It adds an attractive lustre sheen and a soft glow of light reflection to jewellery. Most of our white precious metal jewellery has rhodium plating to protect the piece.

Vermeil - This is referred to as gold-plated silver jewellery. We use a thick 2.5-micron gold plating on all our vermeil jewellery to ensure long durability. Vermeil jewellery can tarnish over time, but this doesn’t mean the plating has come off. Use our branded jewellery cleaning cloth to restore its shine and lustre. If you have any questions about how to take care of vermeil jewellery, please visit our Product Care page or email us

Karat Gold - We only work with the finest fair-trade or recycled gold for our made-to-order, Bespoke and Reimagine jewellery. All of our karat gold jewellery pieces are tested and hallmarked by the London Assay Office to ensure our high-quality standard.

Platinum - We handcraft our Bespoke and made-to-order fine jewellery designs using fair-trade or recycled platinum for made-to-order; all of our platinum jewellery is tested and hallmarked by the London Assay Office.

We keep all our damaged or obsolete jewellery pieces for metal recycling and encourage everyone to do the same. For more information on how to recycle your old jewellery, please drop us an email.

GEMSTONES

Gemstone Guide - There are over 3,000 known minerals worldwide, but only 50 are commonly used as gemstones. Their rarity, hardness, and durability are the main reasons they are valuable. Please visit our Gemstones section to learn more about the history and meaning of the stones used in our designs.

Our Gemstones - We work with stone suppliers worldwide to source the unique stones for our designs. Each piece of our gemstones is unique and has its personality, and they are all hand-selected by Edward.

Diamond - Diamond is undoubtedly the most heated sector in the gemstones market. To provide our clients with the highest quality diamonds, all stones greater than 0.35ct always come with certificates, which our clients can use to track their geological reports on the official laboratory’s website. We only work with conflict-free, ethically sourced, or produced diamonds and strictly follow the Kimberley Process.

Customisation - If our clients have a specific stone and cut in mind, we can source or customise-cut the stone to their specifications. We can also test and work with clients’ personal loose stones. No matter how rare or challenging our clients’ requirements are, we are confident that we can find the perfect stone for them.
