SUSTAINABILITY

MINDFUL JEWELLERY

As a young and growing business, we pay close attention to our environmental footprints and ways to improve and reduce our impact on the earth. We use Fairtrade or recycled metal for our collection and bespoke jewellery. We only use conflict-free diamonds and ethically sourced gemstones from our trusted partners. We work with family-run workshops that train and encourage young talents and promote true craftsmanship. We carefully plan our production. The stone settings, enamelling and platings are done after the orders are placed to avoid stock wastage and better protect our environment. We offer made-to-order, Bespoke and our unique Reimagine Service that recycles and transforms meaningful old jewellery to preserve our clients' memories and love with the pieces.

We are a mindful jewellery business, and we are constantly improving ourselves.

SUSTAINABLE SERVICE

Sustainability is at the core of our business, and this belief inspired us to introduce one of our unique services, Reimagine. ➤

“How can we rejuvenate old and dated jewellery?” “How can we use what we already have instead of aimlessly consuming new materials?” These questions spark our first jewellery upcycling ideas.

In one of our first bespoke projects, our client brought up that she has many dated precious jewellery pieces that have not been worn for an extended period, and she asked for our advice. We helped the client evaluate the pieces and re-design and transform these worn jewellery pieces into a new masterpiece. That is how the idea of Reimagine is born.

As a company passionate about the design and story behind each piece of jewellery, we are honoured to have the opportunity to work with beautiful items filled with memories and love. Our creative and talented artisans work tirelessly with our clients to renovate these old pieces into beautiful and one-of-a-kind designs. Working on a Reimagine project is also tremendously rewarding. Our goal is to inspire and lead a more ethical and kinder way of jewellery consumption, reminding us of the true meaning of jewellery.

RECYCLED METAL

Metal, especially precious metal, is a natural and renewable resource. Recycled silver, gold and platinum are of identical quality and completely indistinguishable from newly mined ones. Recycled or reclaimed silver, gold and platinum are generally made from existing jewellery or refined scrap metal removed from any impurities.

EDXÚ chooses to use Fairtrade and recycled metal to produce our jewellery pieces. Choosing recycled metals reduces the demand for newly mined material, which can help minimise the destructive environmental impact and stop the production of 'dirty gold'. Because of the refinement process, precious metals can be recycled repeatedly without losing their quality. Therefore, in EDXÚ, we recycle all of our scrap metal to minimise waste for our environment.

ETHICAL SOURCING

We source all of our diamonds and gemstones from our trusted suppliers worldwide. Our suppliers go to great lengths to ensure that each piece of stone they sell is ethically sourced. Our suppliers guarantee that none of the gemstones that they sell have been used to fund wars or insurgencies (stones that are known as conflict diamonds or blood diamonds).

Launched in 2003, the Kimberley Process is a coalition of governments, civil society and the diamond industry to eliminate the trade in so-called conflict diamonds: an agreement that controls the trade of rough diamonds to ensure they are not used in conflict areas. These controls ensure that every shipment is numbered, s and led and contains only certified diamonds. Today, the Kimberley Process (KP) represents 82 countries (with the EU as a single participant), accounting for more than 99% of the global rough diamond production and trade.

We work with diamond dealers committed to eliminating the trade of conflict diamonds and have measurable means to prove that all their stones comply with the Kimberley Process. The carat diamonds (usually greater than 0.35ct) we buy are certified by GIA, AGS, IGI or IGR-Global. We source our diamonds with the confidence that your purchase is genuine and of the best quality.

If you are sourcing your own gemstones, please be aware and purchase from legitimate channels to ensure they are conflict-free.

OUR BELIEFS

In EDXÚ, we believe in original design and fine craftsmanship. Fine jewellery is a combination of outstanding creativity and excellent craftsmanship. To reach our high standards, a rigorous design, crafting, and testing process has been implemented to ensure each piece of our jewellery is made to perfection.

Jewellery is our passion; therefore, we want to encourage people to learn more about jewellery and gemstones. You can find the concepts and detailed information on the product page of each design. You can also learn about the history and meaning of each gemstone used in our designs and get inspget for your next piece of jewellery in our Gemstone section.

Giving back is a core ideology of EDXÚ. Our founder, Edward, volunteered and designed for various charity organisations to help those in need and raised awareness throughout his career. Inspired by this philanthropic idea, we plan to donate a portion of our annual profit to a charity chosen by our customers at the end of each year.

CRAFTSMANSHIP & TALENTS

EDXÚ is a London-based business with a heritage of the East. EDXÚ is short for Edward Xú. ‘ED’ represents Edward’s life, career and education in London, England, and ‘XÚ’ signifies his roots and heritage from Canton, China. Having spent half of his life in both places, it is an integral part of our ethos to promote and showcase the best from cultures around the world. Therefore, we work with carefully selected family-run workshops that train and encourage young artisans and promote true craftsmanship to the finest details. Our products are finished in workshops in Hatton Garden, London’s renowned jewellery district, and tested and hallmarked by the London Assay Office to offer our clients the highest quality jewellery.
